Medway Nursery Area

23rd June 2015

KEIFCA are holding a meeting to discuss the introduction of a protected nursery area covering the saltmarsh and intertidal zone on the Isle of Grain side of the Medway. The management proposed would create an area where all types of fishing would be restricted to provide a refuge for small and breeding fish and protect the habitat that supports them. KEIFCA would like to gather local views on these plans before developing a proposed byelaw. The meeting is taking place on Tuesday 21st July 2015 between 6-8pm at the St Mary's Island Community Centre (Island Way West - ME4 3EP). We are intending to give a few presentations regarding the value and the potential role of the site as a nursery area and would like to gather as much local information and knowledge about the site as possible. If you would like to attend please could you contact our office, to enable us to have a clear idea of numbers for this event (01843 585310 or info@kentandessex-ifca.gov.uk)
