Meeting to discuss development of Code of Conduct for cockle industry

27th March 2014

THAMES PERMIT COCKLE FISHERY - DEVELOPING A CODE OF PRACTICE FOR THE COCKLE INDUSTRY

With the information and suggestions you have provided we have developed a draft code of practice.

It is now our intention to hold a meeting with all interested parties to discuss with fishermen how the Code of Practice will be applied and how officers will monitor and report back to the Authority on its success.

We have arranged two meetings in order that we can meet with you. The first one has been arranged at The Boathouse, 1 Harbour Square, Nene Parade, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, PE13 3BH for Thursday 1 August 2013 at 1pm with the second arranged for 9 August 2013 at 11am at Leigh Community Centre, 71/73 Elm Road, Leigh on Sea, Essex. SS9 1SP. If you feel you will be affected by this proposal we hope that you would be able to attend one of these meetings as we feel it is important that we hear from you personally in order that we all understand the importance of adhering to any code developed.

If you are not able to attend but would like to comment on the draft code of practice then we would be pleased to receive your comments. If you are able to attend we would be grateful if you could contact the office on 01843 585310 or by email at info@kentandessex-ifca.gov.uk so that we can notify the venues of numbers.
