Research

"In the broadest sense of the word, the definition of research includes any gathering of data, information and facts for the advancement of knowledge."

The research carried out by KEIFCA will primarily be to inform management decisions which need to be made regarding either marine resource stocks or designated areas and habitats such as MCZs, SPAs, SACs and SSSIs.

Research will help answer specific local focused questions generated by gaps in knowledge identified by KEIFCA management and enforcement needs. However, it will also facilitate gathering and sharing key information and long term data sets that can be used to make balanced decisions by KEIFCA and help inform national policy. Developing IT led solutions is key in helping to undertake these requirements effectively. (Defra Success criteria 5 and 6)
