Dover to Folkestone MCZ

Site Overview

Dover to Folkestone MCZ is located off the Kent coast, below the famous white cliffs of Dover and covers an area of 20km. The seabed structure is highly diverse within the site with soft chalk platforms at Dover supporting one of the best examples of chalk communities in the region, harder sandstone rock at Folkestone supporting soft corals, anemones and fragile branching sponges and a range of sediment types on the sea floor rich in mobile animals including squat lobsters, pollack, cuttlefish and the wild native oyster.
